Rs 22,122 cr package for Vidarbha: Maharashtra government

The State on Friday, announced a whopping Rs 22,122 crore package for overall development of Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Maharashtra regions in the state. The Monsoon session of state Assembly came to an end on Friday with this announcement.

While Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Friday, announced the package for Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Maharashtra district, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the Assembly that this package was a reply to why Monsoon session was held in Nagpur.

Replying to the final week motion which was moved by Opposition Finance Minister Mungantiwar informed that government would provide Rs 13,422 crore for 89 irrigation projects which would bring an area of 2.56 lakh 224 hectares under irrigation. He informed that a separate war room is prepared on seventh floor of the Mantralaya for monitoring these projects.

He informed that Rs 1,158 would be provided for pending 52 power connections and construction of 44 sub-stations in North Maharashtra. Mungantiwar announced that government would provide Rs 500 crore for water conservation measures. Announcing Rs 100 crore for drip irrigation subsidy in Vidarbha and Marathwada region. Mungantiwar said that government would provide Rs 150 crore for promoting goat farming, animal husbandry-related businesses and poultry businesses in all the districts of Nagpur division.
