Rs 155.4 cr spent on President's safety in 4 years

Rs 155.4 crore was spent in the last four years on salaries of personnel provided for the security of the President, an RTI reply has revealed.

According to the reply filed in response to Lucknow-based activist Nutan Thakur's queries for the financial year 2014-15, a total of Rs 38.17 crore was spent on the salary of personnel deployed in the security, Rs 41.77 crore in 2015-16, Rs 48.35 crore in 2016-17, and Rs 27.11 crore so far in 2017-18.

Rs 64.9 lakh were incurred for maintenance of the vehicles provided for the movement of sentinel in these four years, which includes Rs 15.5 lakh for 2014-15, Rs 20 lakh in 2015-16, Rs 21.8 lakh in 2016-17, and Rs 7.5 lakh in 2017-18 so far. This does not include expenses of fuel for the vehicles.

The office of the DCP, Rashtrapati Bhawan, however, refused to provide the total number of security personnel and government vehicles provided to the President citing security concerns.
