The Railway Recruitment Board has postponed the Group D exams scheduled for October 11 and October 12. The exam has been cancelled due to cyclone Titli in some centres in Odisha. RRB chairman Ashwani Lohani had released an official notification and said, "Due to Titli, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Exam that was scheduled on 11 and 12 October in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Khurda and Berhamapur has been cancelled. Revised dates and places to be sent to candidates on their registered mobile numbers and email.

With cyclonic storm 'Titli' moving towards Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast, the Odisha government on Tuesday geared up to face the situation setting a target of "zero casualty".

The state has put the districts on high alert and asked the authorities to evacuate those living in low-lying areas and in 'kutchha' houses along the coast. "Zero casualty is part of the state government's disaster management policy. Stocking of food and shifting of people to cyclone shelters are also included in the policy," Chief Secretary A P Padhi told PTI. During previous cyclones such as Phailin in 2013 and Hudhud in 2014, the government had ensured zero casualty and earned laurels from the United Nations for successful disaster management.

RRB is looking to fill vacancy for more than 63,000 posts and over 2 crore candidates are expected to take the test. Currently, details till October 26 are available on the respective websites.

The next phase of dates will be out on October 18th. In that slot, the exams will be held beginning from October 29. Also, the admit cards are available for days before the date of exam. So candidates who have an exam on October 12 can now download their admit cards. No exams are being held between October 17-October 22 due to festival season.

Railway Recruitment Control Board:

First time in July 1942, as an experimental measure, a Service Commission with a Chairman and two members was established for recruitment of Subordinate Staff on the then North West Railway. The position was reviewed in 1945 and Services Commissions at Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and Lucknow were set up under Railway Board. These Commissions were introduced with twofold functions of recruiting class III staff and also tender advice to General Managers for dealing with appeals from subordinate staff on disciplinary matters.

RRB Grup D recruitment exam is at close quarters and it is high time that the candidates plan their last-minute preparations schedule. The test will be conducted in computer-based mode (CBT).
