The spat between the erstwhile royal family and the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Sunday came to an end as the issue was resolved after a meeting between Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje and erstwhile royals wherein it was decided that the gate of the Rajmahal Palace would be reopened.

The dispute had turned ugly with the erstwhile royal family staging protest on the streets on September 1 against the civic body's purported 'unjust' action. Titular queen Rajmata Padmini Devi had addressed a gathering inside the walled city to garner support for her family. The protestors marched from Tripolia, inside the walled city, and moved through the city before ending their march at the Rajmahal Palace.

Last week, the JDA had sealed the main gate of the Rajmahal Palace, a hotel property owned by the royal family. The action had been termed arbitrary and "wholly illegal" by the family.
