In pursuit of the black money trail, a team of Kolkata Police visited the apartment of Suvra Kundu, wife of Rose Valley owner Goutam Kundu, at Jadavpur in south Kolkata.
Sources at Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters said that she had been quizzed by the team for about two hours and was likely to be called at Lalbazar in connection to the alleged siphoning of about Rs 15 crore. “Police are trying to find out where the money had landed and how did she reroute the money,” the official said.
He also said that during interrogation, police were also gathering evidence against senior Enforcement Directorate (ED) official Manoj Kumar who had come under police radar since the duo had allegedly been seen together at Kolkata airport and a hotel in Delhi.
“We have evidence to believe that the two had been exchanging texts and kept in touch over the phone. Evidence also point that Suvra had been seeking advice from Kumar to help her reroute black money through fake companies,” said another senior KP official.
Besides being the wife of Rose Valley boss Goutam Kundu, Suvra had also acted in some of the films produced by the group.
Kumar, in turn, was called at the ED office at CGO Complex in Salt Lake for questioning. Sources said that his phone details and bank account had been examined and he had been asked whether he had visited Delhi with Suvra and if yes, why.
Kumar who had been removed from the investigation of Rose Valley ponzi scheme scam after CCTV footage of him along with Suvra had surfaced, had rubbished all allegations levelled against him and had been maintaining that Suvra had been helping him in investigation. While coming out of the CGO Complex today said, “I have asked them to scrutinise my file.”
