Government school students in Satna district will have to answer roll call with "Jai Hind" from October 1. This announcement was made by Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Vijay Shah on Tuesday. According to the minister, this practice has been introduced on an experimental basis in Satna and will be extended to other districts later.

"This proposal is just a suggestion for private schools in Satna; we hope they'll adhere to it since it relates to patriotism" said Vijay Shah reports ANI. If the experiment turns successful, there is a plan to implement it in entire Madhya Pradesh.

The state government has already given instruction on hosting the Tricolour and singing the national anthem in school every day, Vijay Shah said during a divisional meeting of teachers, principals and block resource coordinators in Chitrakoot.
Controversial selfie offer
Vijay Shah had earlier courted controversy when he offered people to Harsud Assembly constituency in Khandwa district to take selfies with him by paying a sum of Rs 10. He had claimed that the collected money would be utilised for the proposed tribal old age home. After the controversy, Vijay Shah clarified all those who were not able to pay the amount were also welcome to take a selfie with him.
