The woman researcher's letter comes just a day after The Energy and Research Institute's governing council appointed RK Pachauri as executive vice-chairman while former head of Bureau of Energy Efficiency Ajay Mathur assumed charge as director-general, Teri.
In a stinging open letter, the former Teri (The Energy and Resources Institute) woman researcher, who has accused Rajendra Pachauri of sexually harassing her, has alleged that Teri of diluting her case, cornering colleagues to force reconciliation and even termed 'shameless' his appointment as executive vice-chairman. The complainant has said that Teri gave "zero support" while the governing council showed where their "conscience leans".

"The news of promotion of a man who stands booked on charges of sexual harassment at workplace, stalking and criminal intimidation by country's who's who makes my flesh crawl,"said the woman researcher. In an emotional outpouring, the complainant has expressed her anguish over the governing council's apathy towards her condition, even as they conducted meetings at an unprecedented frequency. "The Governing Council of TERI met twice within a month to address insecurities of R K Pachauri and could not even hold a meeting over my complaint or my letter to them (dated 03 April, 2015) nor could they meet to discuss the ICC report presented on 19 May, 2015."
The complainant has also detailed the methods used by Teri's senior staff members to corner her friends in the organization, to first intimidate and later use them as a medium for reconciliation outside court. For a research organisation, priority was given to meetings held by Senior Directors and Area Convenors to corner my colleagues, to get them to have me agree on a reconciliation - "Ask your lady friend to settle out of court. That would be best for her as she has nothing more left to achieve."
From the time she filed a police complaint February last year, the complainant has alleged that Pachauri is influencing the probe and hence should step down from all responsibilities at Teri. In fact, after an FIR was filed Pachauri resigned from the chair of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and from the Prime Minister's Climate Change Council but has stayed on as the head of Teri.
Expressing her ordeal after filing the complaint, the complainant has said, "Not a day passed without a message showing up on my mobile, warning me or bringing forth concerns. I spoke up and was quarantined from work. Not allowed to resume work and no earnings for a long time. No money and a tainted Curriculum Vitae gave me sleepless nights. It was getting beyond my dignity to be associated with such an organisation and in the best of my interest, I quit. I felt most lighter in my mind and body on quitting Teri."
