RJD MP Mohammad Taslimuddin, father of JD(U) MLA Sarfaraz Alam who was suspended from party in a case of misbehaviour and abuse of a Delhi couple on board Rajdhani train, today pleaded that his son was not guilty.

Taslimuddin also attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of suspending Alam with an intent to "insult me"."

"Sarfaraz sat on a vacant seat in the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express when the couple who were drunk started arguing with him to vacate the seat," Taslimuddin told reporters.

"This has been the practice that MP and MLA sits on a seat and then TTE allots berth to him/her. My son did not misbehave with the couple who themselves were in a inebriated state," the RJD Lok Sabha member from Araria said.

Sarfaraz was arrested by Railway police in Patna on January 24 but later released him on bail.

Taslimuddin hit out at CM for "selectively" initiating action against his MLA son.

The Araria MP said "my son was targeted with an intent to weaken and humiliate me because I never acted as 'yes man' of Nitish Kumar."

He threatened to launch an agitation against the Nitish Kumar government in the minorities-dominated Seemanchal region of the state against corruption.

Earlier, Taslimuddin had appeared in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) P K Jha in a 2009 case in a fight in Kochadhaman police station area.
