RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav asks JD(U) spokesperson to be careful

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has asked the Grand Alliance spokesperson not to 'exceed the bosses' brief' and issue statements only after consultation with their bosses.

According to Indian Express, the remark was apparently directed at spokespersons of the JD(U), which appeared to have taken offence to Lalu’s recent “suggestion” to the CM Nitish Kumar on the law and order situation in Bihar.

Lalu had 'suggested' that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ask officials, including DMs and SPs, to visit villages and restore confidence of the people, after the killing of two engineers in Darbhanga.

The suggestion set of a volley of attacks by JD(U) and RJD members on each other. After JD vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said Nitish had to take responsibility for any law and order lapses, JD (U)spokesperson Sanjay Singh said, "Lalu should rein in his leaders like Raghuvansh Prasad Singh. There cannot be two sets of standards for Grand Alliance spokespersons."

Lalu the adopted a softer tone on Friday. "Grand Alliance spokespersons should refrain from making statements just to increase TRPs. If they do not know what to do, they should stay at home. They should make statements only after consulting their bosses." 

RJD principal general secretary Mudrika Singh pointed to the RJD's superiority in numbers. "The RJD is the elder brother in the alliance (with 80 seats). Laluji has every right to speak on law and order lapses as the RJD’s supreme leader."

Reportedly, Lalu has been trying to play the role of a 'senior partner' in the coalition despite Nitish being the CM.
