Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Wednesday clashed outside BJP office in Patna, a day after the Income Tax Department conducted raids in connection with an alleged 'benami' property case involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and others.

The IT department on Tuesday conducted raids and surveys on at least 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas.

RJD workers were protesting against senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi when the clash occurred.

Sushil Kumar Modi has demanded that the Nitish Kumar government order a probe into the allegations of "shady land deals" against RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his family members.

"The central agencies have acted on the alleged benami properties that were in the public domain for the past 40 days. Now, it is the turn of the Nitsih Kumar government to act against his ally, RJD leader Lalu Prasad and his two minister sons, who have made land purchases in Bihar," he told reporters.

Hitting out at BJP after raids, Lalu Prasad Yadav had said that nobody can silence him and questioned which 22 places were being raided.

"BJP doesn't have the guts to silence Lalu's voice. If you try this, crores of Lalus will stand up across the country," Lalu Prasad Yadav said in series of tweets.

The BJP had last week accused Prasad, his MP-daughter Misa Bharti and his two sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, both Bihar government ministers, of being involved in corrupt land deals worth over Rs 1,000 crore, and asked the central government to probe one such transaction in Delhi.

Lalu's RJD is a constituent of Bihar's ruling coalition led by Nitish Kumar.
