A day after police registered a case against Dr Satish Chavan and unidentified godman for carrying out rituals on a woman patient inside intensive care unit of Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital, the doctor and the godman have fled away from their residences. "Police team reached their houses but they could not be found," senior police inspector Rekha Salunke, in charge of Alankar police station said.

Police have booked Dr Chavan and the godman under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. The case was registered in Alankar police station late night on Tuesday after relatives of the patient submitted a complaint application against the duo.

Speaking to DNA, inspector Saluke said, "After the case was registered with us, we sent our team to the house of the doctor but it was found to be locked. We are not trying to trace the doctor who is the main accused in the case."

"As far as godman is concerned, we still do not know his identity. Once, we apprehend the doctor, then only we can get more details about the godman," Saluke added.

The incident came to light after a video of godman performing some rituals on patient Sandhya Sonawane who was in the ICU at Deenanath Mangeshkar died a day after the ritual was performed.

The doctor allegedly brought a godman to perform a special ritual on a patient inside an ICU ward of Pune’s prestigious Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.

The special ‘pooja’ was recorded by the family of the patient. A day after the ritual, the 24-year-old woman died inside the hospital.  In the one minute 43-second long viral video, the godman is seen performing the ritual with red flowers.

After patient's death, her brother, Mahesh Jagtap claimed that she was taking treatment at Dr Chavan's clinic and after her health deteriorated, Dr Chavan only advised her to get admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital. Jagtap alleged that it was Dr Chavan who had arranged the visit of the godman inside the ICU to perform the rituals.
