Rishikesh: Rag-picker finds old notes worth Rs 9.80 lakh

Demonetized currency worth Rs 9.80 lakh was found on Friday by a rag-picker from bushes along the banks of river Ganga in Rishikesh, police said.

Uttam Tharu, a Nepali rag picker, saw the old Rs 500 notes scattered behind the bushes along the banks of Ganga under Muni-ki-Reti police station area, station in-charge Ravi Kumar Saini said.

"The rag-picker brought the amount in a packet and handed it over to us. The notes are worth Rs 9.80 lakh," he said, adding investigation is underway.
