In growing incidents of crime against women, a 25-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in a moving car in south Delhi and another by a policeman in Uttar Pradesh as four separate cases of sexual assault were registered across the country.

In Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old girl was today found hanging from a tree but a senior police officer claimed that prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide. The 25-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men in a moving car in south Delhi following which the police arrested three persons.  The woman had approached the police last night after which an FIR was registered, a senior police official said.

Another girl, 24, accused a police sub-inspector in Hamirpur in UP of raping her inside a police station when she had gone there to secure her husband's release on the night of June 9. However, DIG (Banda range) Amitabh Yash today said no injury was detected in the medical report of the woman and rape was not confirmed. He added that, according to the medical report, the woman was three-and-a-half months pregnant.

In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was today arrested in Ahemdabad for allegedly raping and killing a five-year-old girl from his neighbouring locality. The incident came to light after the father of the girl, living near Sola bridge area in the city, approached the police when his minor daughter went missing at 10 AM yesterday.

While searching for the girl, the police learnt that the victim was last seen with the young boy working as a cleaner with a private bus operator.

On the basis of suspicion, the police interrogated the boy this morning during which he admitted to have dumped her body in the luggage compartment of a bus, Sola police inspector SM Patel said. The boy, however, claimed that he did not rape the minor girl, Patel said, adding, "Based on the complaint we have arrested the minor boy on the charges of abduction, rape and murder." The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain whether she was raped, he said.

Two minor girls, who were staying in a private hostel in Pollachi town near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, were abducted and gang-raped allegedly by two persons at a nearby complex, the police said. The incident occurred past midnight when the two accused came to the hostel run by a church and asked for some water.

When the girls, aged 10 and 11, fetched water for the duo, they pulled them by their hand, it said. A boy in the hostel witnessed the incident and questioned the men, but was thrashed by the duo, who then forcibly took away the girls to a nearby complex and raped them, it said. The victims were admitted to a government hospital in Pollachi, about 35 kms from Coimbatore, with severe bleeding and injuries.

Davidson Devashirvatham, IG, West Zone and Sudhakar, Rural SP, who are conducting an inquiry, said they have received 'some clues' and would soon bring the culprits to book.
