Retired army Col detained in Delhi in fake recruitment

A retired army officer Colonel Sukhpreet Singh Arjun Singh Randwa has been detained in Delhi in connection to the fake recruitment documents case.

The Nashik Police who have been digging deep into the fake document case that recruited four persons in the Indian artillery and who took training for 15 days before they were exposed, have got a major breakthrough, and have detained a retired army officer Col Sukhpreet Singh Arjun Singh Randwa, (56), a resident of Noida near Delhi.

The case is sensitive with respect to national security aspects.

On July 12, 2016, four persons were arrested by the police after the concerned officials at the Artillery Centre in Upnagar, Nashik realised that the joining documents produced by the persons reporting for recruitment and that received by the Artillery Centre from the higher authorities responsible for recruitment were not matching.

The case was reported to Upnagar police who arrested Balbir Gurjar, Tejpal Gopiram, Sureshkumar Shivcharan and Sachinkumar Kishankumar, all hailing from Rajasthan.

The recruitment drive for jobs in the army for a certain post was held in Delhi where the four had met an agent. In consent with these four persons and for a sum of money, the agent forged their joining letters along with signatures and stamp of the army. The four then came to Nashik Road as recruits.

The procedure in the army in such matters of recruitment follows a certain protocol and it was found out that the documents were fake.

Police began investigating the case and found involvement of an agent and an army sepoy. A team was sent to Delhi and agent Tekchand and army sepoy Giriraj Ghanshyam Chauhan Singh of 105 Rajputana rifles, Delhi who also belongs to the same district as that of the four accused were arrested on August 24, 2016.

On further investigation a retired Colonel Sukhpreet Sing Arjun Singh Randwa was detained in Delhi on Tuesday.

Police informed that the accused operated a recruiting firm called as Sainik Ghar and offered to recruit interested candidates in the military. "The detained retired officer who is suspected to have involvement in making the fake documents was well versed with the recruitment process and is said to have forged the documents accordingly," stated DCP, Zone II, Shrikant Dhivare.

Police said that investigations revealed the involvement of the retired officer who was on the run. A team of Nashik police then traced him down and detained him in Delhi. He will be arrested after he is brought to police station.

Candidates charged Rs6 lakh

Police informed that the accused operated a recruiting firm called as Sainik Ghar and offered to recruit interested candidates in the military. "The detained retired officer who is suspected to have involvement in making the fake documents was well versed with the recruitment process and is said to have forged the documents accordingly," stated DCP, Zone II, Shrikant Dhivare.

The police said that the candidates were charged a sum of Rs6 lakh by promising employment in the army. The accused had also participated in training camps for a fortnight before the breach came into light.
