Responsibility will be fixed for dumping of martyrs' belongings, says Home Minister Rajnath Singh

Sharing the "hurt" sentiments of members, government on Monday assured the Lok Sabha that responsibility will be fixed for dumping of uniforms of the CRPF personnel killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh last week in a garbage bin.

"My sentiments were also hurt. I told the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister (Raman Singh) that he should order an inquiry and fix responsibility for the incident. "He called me back to say that a magisterial probe has been ordered," Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.

While the postmortem of 14 deceased CRPF personnel was going in a government hospital, their blood-stained uniforms and shoes were dumped in dustbin, sparking outrage. Earlier, Tamradhwaj Sahu and K C Venugopal, both of Congress, expressed concern over the incident.

Sahu said it was an "insult to their martyrdom" and demanded explanation from the government. The CRPF personnel, including two officers, were killed on December 1 in a Naxal attack in the Chintagufa region of South Bastar's Sukma district.
