The Karnataka Milk Federation has been supplying ghee for the Tirupati laddus for years. However, this has changed now. A report in Bangalore Mirror states that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has now given the contract for ghee to a private dairy in Maharashtra. Apparently, the Maharashtra dairy quoted a lower price than the Karnataka Milk Federation.

The TTD floats the tender for ghee twice a year and the last tender was in June for 1700 tonnes of ghee. Govind Milk and Milk Products Pvt Ltd in Maharashtra bagged the tender, says the report.

Now, the Karnataka Milk Federation has reportedly taken up the issue with the TTD. The co-operative milk union is said to be the second largest in India after Amul. The KMF has supplied ghee to TTD for more than 10 years now.
