Relief for now, but more rain to come

Though the city sky remained overcast on Sunday, there was no rain all through the day much to the delight of the residents.

The weather was pleasant with maximum temperature recorded at 23.2 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal while the minimum temperature was 21 degrees Celsius, one degree less than normal.

The dry spell, however, might not last long as the meteorological department has forecast more rainfall in the region in next 48 hours.

Water level in Sardar Sarovar dam remained 9m above danger mark while Omkareswar, Jobat and Maan dams were also overflowing. The water level in Indira Sagar dam however receded two metres below danger mark. Motakka and Khalghat bridges on the Narmada continued to remain submerged on Sunday too.

Due to the heavy rainfall, the condition of Indore -Dhar stretch of Indore-Ahmedabad highway has worsened and commuters are facing a tough time.

Several roads in the city like those from Bengali square to Bypass, Khajrana, Patnipura to Malwa Mill square, Manik Bagh, Bhawarkua Khandwa road, Palda,  Dewas Naka and Kanadia road too have developed potholes due to rain. The stretch connecting Dhar road to airport has become dangerous for the vehicles.
Residents in several low lying areas continued to face water logging problem on the second day too.
