Relatives of brain dead man donate his kidneys in Kozhikode

The family of a 44-year-old man who was declared brain dead following a road accident donated his kidneys today, hospital authorities said.

AV Sivasadan was admitted to Pariyaram Medical College hospital at Kannur on September 17 after a road accident and he was declared brain dead last night.

His son and relatives expressed their willingness to donate his kidneys following which they were harvested.

One kidney was given to a 20-year-old patient at the Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences here. He had been under dialysis for the last four years, a MIMS press release said.

The other kidney was given to another male patient at the Calicut Medical College, it said.
