Regional Rural Banks recruitment exams will now be conducted in 13 regional languages

So far, the exams were being conducted in two languages only — English and Hindi.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) will now be conducted in 13 regional languages, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Thursday.

The exam will be conducted in 13 regional languages which will be — Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malyalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Sitharaman in a written reply in Lok Sabha on Thursday explained that the RRB exam for the recruitment for officer Scale-1 and Office Assistants (multipurporse) will be conducted in 13 regional languages.

So far, the exams were being conducted in two languages only — English and Hindi. 

Announcing in the information on Twitter, Sitharaman's office said, "to provide a level playing field and to expand employment possibilities for local youths,it has been decided that examination for direct recruitment of officers (Scale-I) and Office Assistant in RRBs will be conducted in 13 regional languages in addition to English and Hindi."

"Examination for Regional Rural Banks to be conducted in 13 regional languages," it said. 

Schedule of Office Sale 1 exam 

  • August 3, 4 and 11 

Schedule of Office Assistant exam 

  • Aug 17, 18 and 25

According to reports, exams to be conducted in 13 regional languages shall come into effect from the mains examination of CRP RRB-VIII, 2019.
