Red carpet rolled out for Vasundhara Raje

Administration and BJP is making massive preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of Vasundhara Raje to be held on Friday; Modi, Advani and Rajnath to attend; over 1 lakh people are expected to witness the event.

BJP state chief Vasundhara Raje will take oath as the new chief minister of Rajasthan on Friday inside the State Assembly premises on Friday.

Over 1 lakh people are expected to be present at the swearing-in ceremony and the Department of Personnel has deployed 27 RAS officers as protocol dictates. A large dais is also being prepared for the event. The BJP and the district administration have started making preparations for the event.

On Tuesday, acting chief secretary CS Rajan took a review of the arrangements and gave instructions regarding arrangement of electricity, water, ambulance, parking, security, deployment of fire brigade, sending of invitation cards, seating and conveyance arrangements for the dignitaries.

Meanwhile, state BJP vice-president Onkar Singh Lakhawat held a meeting at the party officer and briefed workers regarding the preparations. According to sources, all officer bearers of the state unit and all the Mandals have been invited.

Seating arrangement are being made for 40,000 people on the road connecting Vidhan Sabha to Statue Circle. A big screen will be put up at every 100 meters to ensure everyone can see the ceremony. Meanwhile, the general administration department has printed over 25,000 invitation cards.

As VVIP’s including Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will also be present at the ceremony, the police have made extensive security arrangements. Police did a security check of the Vidhan Sabha premises and of nearby buildings.

The BJP has also taken two temporary electricity connections for the swearing=in ceremony. The repair work and beautification of the state Assembly premises at Janpath, government buildings along the road, footpaths and dividers was being done throughout Tuesday. Chairs and carpet were unloaded near the venue and road lights, electricity lines were also repaired.

There will be separate lobbies for VVIP, VIP and MLAs. VVIPs and VIPs will be seated on one side of the dais while the newly elected MLAs will sit on the other side.

Traffic will be barred on Janpath from Thursday.
