Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has opened accounts on several social networking sites to reach out to a large number of Delhiites who can share their grievances about burning of plastic and garbage in open.

DPCC has opened accounts on WhatsApp ('DPCC Helpline') and Facebook ('Delhi Pollution Control Committee') where people can send their grievances about illegal burning of the plastic, garbage or leaves in their areas. Meanwhile, DPCC teams also carried out inspection at 58 locations in Delhi on December 30 last year, January 6 and 8 to check such burning of garbage.

For appropriate action, the complaints received by DPCC are being forwarded to the local bodies concerned and Delhi Police for redressal, senior officials said. Delhi government has already given out public advertisements in newspapers on December 20 and 21 last year asking people not to burn the plastic, garbage or leaves.

Further, the forest department has roped in all green agencies to increase the tree cover in the city.
