Rape convict sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in Madhya Pradesh

A court on Thursday sentenced a man convicted for raping a minor girl to 10 years imprisonment while four others were awarded five years jail term for abducting the victim in Sabalgarh, Madhya Pradesh.

Additional Session Judge B K Gupta, awarded 10 years imprisonment to convict Dhiraj Jaga for raping the victim (14) by forcibly marrying her on March 12, 2013, Ramesh Verma, Assistant Government Pleader said on Friday.

According to the prosecution, the victim was abducted by an individual, whose name is not revealed and then handed her over to the accused Dhiraj and Gudda Jaga. They were later joined by relatives -- Jaswant Jaga, Laxminarayan Jaga and Ashok Jaga. All the men involved took the girl to Gwalior, a city in Madhya Pradesh where she was forced to marry to Dhiraj, who later raped her. 

Following a complaint, the police arrested Dhiraj, Jaswant, Laxminarayan, Ashok and Gudda and submitted the case for trial in the court. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each on all the five convicts.
