A day after former dairy minister Babulal Nagar was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly raping a thirty five-year-old woman, he was produced before a CBI court. The CBI submitted its plea to take Nagar on remand and the court gave his custody for three days to the agency.
Nagar’s lawyers, however, informed the court that he has known the woman for three-and-a-half years and the relation was consensual.
Around 11 am, officials of the CBI investigating team reached the special CBI court with Nagar amidst tight security provided by the Jaipur police.
After producing the accused in court, the CBI gave an application in the court requesting the accused be handed over to it on remand.
Accepting the CBI’s application, the court sent Nagar on police remand till 29th October.
Interestingly, in Nagar’s defence his lawyers are now trying to put the entire blame on the victim alleging that it was a conspiracy against Nagar.
Nagar’s advocate, AK Jain told the court that Nagar and the victim have known each other for a considerable period and the relation between them was established out of consensus.
Moreover, the defence in the matter has also provided evidence supporting the fact, Jain argued.
Talking to the media, Jain said that the defence has given numbers of individuals who conspired against Nagar. Jain also said the investigation could get influenced and hence the names cannot be made public. The defence has also pleaded in the court that the CBI should conduct an in-depth investigation of the case so that the facts come out in the case.
Meanwhile, the court also accepted the application wherein Nagar has asked for a medicines, home-cooked food and permission to meet relatives. “Nagar suffers from diabetes and hence the application was moved,” Jain said.
Nagar was arrested by the CBI team at its field office in the Circuit House on Friday. Nagar has been evading arrest since FIR was lodged against him on September 17, this year.
