Ramniwas, a 1982 batch Indian Police Service officer, has been appointed he new director general of police (DGP) of Chhattisgarh which is fighting Maoist militancy, an official statement said on Monday.

Ramniwas, a 1982 batch Indian Police Service officer, has been appointed he new director general of police (DGP) of Chhattisgarh which is fighting Maoist militancy, an official statement said on Monday.
Ramniwas, who was elevated to the post of special director general, Chhattisgarh Armed Force and Naxal Operation, from additional director general in September this year, will succeed Anil M. Navaney, who is retiring November 30.
Ramniwas will take charge December 1.
Informed sources said that tackling the rising clout of Maoists, mainly in the state's vast southern tip which is called Bastar region, would be on top of his agenda.
