Days after student clashes were reported in Delhi University (DU), members of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Students For Society (SFS) also staged demonstrations in the Panjab University (PU) campus here on Saturday.

Responding to a call from the national unit, the ABVP’s Chandigarh unit led a protest against the Ramjas College incident. Around 50 ABVP members gathered at the PU’s student centre and raised slogans against All India Students’ Association (AISA) and other Left-leaning organisations alleging that the groups have been siding with anti-national elements. The members extended support to Ramjas College students who got injured in the clash.

“It is high time now that we expose these anti-national elements in our educational institutions. Student organisations, including AISA and SFI, should be banned for organising these types of activities,” said Harmanjot Singh Gill, member, Central Working Committee (CWC), ABVP.

Soon thereafter, Students for Society (SFS) also organised a protest at the campus, condemning the clash that took place at Ramjas College, and slammed ABVP for disrupting the seminar, which led to the violence in the campus.
