As the debate over Gurmehar Kaur continues, a Haryana minister said that those who support Kaur's stance are pro-Pakistan and should be thrown out of the country.
Anil Vij, the minister in question, made the remarks on Wednesday morning in a tweet, which he also clarified while speaking to ANI.
People supporting #GurmeharKaur blaming war for her #Kargilmartyr father are Pro #Pakistan should be throughnout of #India.

Vij, who represent the BJP, is not new to controversy. In January this year, the minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a bigger brand than Mahatma Gandhi. This was right after Modi's face replaced Gandhi's in the annual khadi calendar.
Vij had said: “It’s good that Modi’s photo replaced that of Gandhi’s in the calendar. Modi is a better brand name. From the time Gandhi’s name has been associated with Khadi, the industry has never been able to stand up. Khadi has drowned. The day Gandhi came on the rupee, its devaluation started. Gradually, he will be removed from the notes also".
Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh and a student of Lady Sri Ram College, changed her Facebook profile picture to a photo of herself holding a placard which read "I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP".
"The brutal attack on innocent students by ABVP is very disturbing and should be stopped. It was not an attack on protesters, but an attack on every notion of democracy that is held dear in every Indian's heart. It is an attack on ideals, morals, freedom and rights of every person born to this nation," she said in a Facebook status.
The post evoked a lot of backlash on social media, following which Kaur said she would not be campaigning on Monday.
