A day after the social media campaign initiated against ABVP over the violence at Ramjas college took a political turn, Kargil martyr's daughter Gurmehar Kaur on Tuesday said she was withdrawing from it as she had been through a lot.

"I'm withdrawing from the campaign. Congratulations everyone. I said what I had to say. I have been through a lot and this is all that my 20 year old self could take," she said in a Facebook post.

24-year-old Kaur, a Delhi University student, had started the campaign "I am not afraid of ABVP", following the violence at Ramjas college, which went viral and received massive support from students across various universities.

"The brutal attack on innocent students by ABVP is very disturbing and should be stopped. It was not an attack on protesters, but an attack on every notion of democracy that is held dear in every Indian's heart. It is an attack on ideals, morals, freedom and rights of every person born to this nation," she had said in a Facebook status.

However, withdrawing her campaign she added, "This campaign was never about me but students. Please go in huge numbers for the March. Best of luck. To anyone questioning my courage and bravery I have shown enough."

One thing is for sure that we will think twice before resorting to threats and violence and this is all that this was about. I request to be left alone, Kaur said.

On Monday, Kaur moved the DCW, claiming that she has received "rape threats" allegedly from ABVP members after she initiated a social media campaign against the RSS' student wing.

The row over her post took a political turn after Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju  asked who was polluting the young girl's mind. "Who's polluting this young girl's mind? A strong Arm Force prevents a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded," Rijiju had tweeted.

Whereas, BJP MP Pratap Simha from Mysore's Kodagu constituency compared her with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim saying,"The 1993 Mumbai serial blasts mastermind and underworld don and said that Dawood Ibrahim did not use the crutches of his father's name to justify his anti-national stand."

Ramjas College had on Wednesday witnessed large-scale violence between members of AISA and ABVP workers. The genesis of the clash was an invite to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar on 'Culture of Protests' which was withdrawn by the college authorities following opposition by the RSS student wing.
