Advocating construction of Ram Temple at the disputed Babri mosque site in Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Wakq Board on Monday reiterated that mosque be built away from the site in Muslim-dominated area and named as Masjid-e-Aman.

Board chairman Waseem Rizvi said the Board had sought opinions from renowned religious leaders in Iran and Iraq and they have also opined that mosque should be rebuilt at a separate place.

The chairman claimed that there are umpteen historical evidences that Meer Baqi had built Babri mosque in 1528 after demolishing Hindu temples. "As per Islam, no mosque can be built forcibly by demolishing places of worship of other religions," said Rizvi.

Rizvi quoted Goswami Tulsidas and report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) after excavation at the disputed site to prove his point that the Babri mosque was constructed by Babar's lieutenant in Ayodhya by demolishing Hindu temples.

"The entire Shia community is embarrassed due to an un-Islamic act and historical blunder committed by Babar's Army in Ayodhya. The only solution to the vexed problem is to surrender the site to Hindus for construction of Ram temple and built mosque away at a Muslim-dominated area and be named as Masjid-e-Aman," he demanded.

Rizvi said that the vice-president of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Dr Kalbe Sadiq has already advised to hand over the site to Hindus to buy permanent peace. Earlier, the Shia Board had submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court on August 8, 2017 saying the mosque can be built at some other place.

The legal advisor of AIMPLB Jafrayab Jilani said that since UP Central Shia Wakq Board was not a party in the ongoing case it has no locus standi. "There is no legal importance to changing stand of Shia Board," reacted Jilani.
