Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday urged the people to ensure the success of the 'Run for Unity' programme, which will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Vijay Chowk tomorrow.
"Our government will celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the 'Run for Unity' from Vijay Chowk tomorrow. I request you all to participate in the programme and make it successful," said Singh.
A nationwide marathon will take place on Friday to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It will also be celebrated as the National Unity Day every year.
Several programmes have been lined up to mark the event to be observed by ministries and departments of the Government of India and all the state governments and administrators of all the Union Territories.
President Pranab Mukherjee will also flag off the 'Run for Unity' at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan at 8.15 am tomorrow to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The residents and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's Body Guard, the Army Guard and the Delhi Police will participate in the run.
