Keen to fast-track key issues, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today asked his officials to come up with out of the box ideas for internal security and better coordination between the Centre and states.

Directing his Ministry to prepare an actionable blueprint, he said this should also contain ideas to resolve border disputes with neighbouring countries without compromising national interests, official sources said.
During a three-hour-long interaction with senior Home Ministry officials, Singh said internal security is his top most priority area and asked them to think innovatively.

Crucial divisions like Internal Security, Naxal Management, Centre-State, North-East and Jammu and Kashmir have been directed to prepare a roadmap to improve internal security architecture in the next few days.

During the familiarisation exercise, the new Home Minister, who took charge today, asked officials heading different divisions to make individual presentations.

62-year-old Singh told the officials to let him know what kind of intervention he can make for inter-ministerial coordination, sanction of funds and ensuring cooperation of Central and state governments.

Singh was briefed about the problems along the international border, like infiltration from Bangladesh and dispute with Pakistan on Sir Creek, and how to resolve them.

There was no mention of UPA government's pet proposals to set up controversial National Counter Terrorism Centre and enactment of the Communal Violence Bill, both of which were vehemently opposed by the BJP.
