Hours after the release of the music of superstar Rajinikanth's much-awaited film, Kaala, the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday warned the filmmakers of strict action if the politically-charged lyrics disturbed the state's law and order.

The audio of movie Kaala directed by Pa Ranjith was released online on Wednesday morning, while it was formally launched in a mega event in the evening, with an interesting mix of different genres and politically-influenced lyrics.

As the movie Kaala, which is produced by his son-in-law Dhanush, is the first movie to be released after Rajinikanth announced his decision to take the political plunge in December last year. All songs, except two, have heavy political overtones as was expected. The song lyrics revolve around the themes such as caste hegemony, inequality, poverty, corruption, etc. From the subtle pro-Dalit message in Kabali, Kaala's songs hint at strong and more pronounced pro-subaltern statements clearly targeting the hitherto oppressed people.

Senior AIADMK leader and Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said that if 'Kaala' songs create any law and order problems in Tamil Nadu, the state government would not sit silently. "No one should create confusion for their personal gains," the minister said.

"Everyone cannot become an MGR," he said, referring to AIADMK founder and former chief minister MG Ramachandran, who succeeded in politics after having dominated Tamil cinema.

OPPOSITION TO FILM

"Songs in MGR films had a clear social message and they advocated good moral and ethics for people to follow. That's why MGR songs are still popular even after 50 years. Unlike Rajinikanth, he never acted in any scenes with cigarettes or liquor. Everyone cannot become an MGR and 'Kaala' songs will disappear soon like 'kaalaan' (mushrooms)," he said.
