A village sarpanch and his supporters allegedly beat up toll plaza staff and vandalised the booth when they were asked to pay toll fee.

A case was registered on Saturday against Pench Ki Bawdi sarpanch Babulal Meena and his supporters under relevant sections of IPC, DSP Ramesh Meena said.

According to police, the accused refused to pay toll tax at the Kishorepura toll plaza on NH 52 Kota-Jaipur highway for their trucks and attacked the employees yesterday when they asked for the fees. They also vandalised the toll booth and robbed them off Rs 65000.

Two employees, Sheir Singh and Jitendra Yadav, sustained injuries in the attack and are currently undergoing medical treatment at the district government hospital, police said. The sarpanch and his supporters attacked with sticks and iron rods and beat up the employees, toll plaza manager Ajeet Singh claimed.

Police teams rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. No arrests have been made so far Meena said.
