JCB operator succumbed to injuries sustained during a clash that broke out between the police and the villagers during an anti-encroachment drive in Taausar village of Nagaur district, today.

A JCB operator was killed during a clash between police and the villagers during an anti-encroachment drive in a village of Rajasthan's Nagaur district on Sunday.
According to ANI, an anti-encroachment team, escorted by the police, was carrying out a drive at Taausar village when the angry villagers started pelting stones. The operator of the JCB was injured in the clash and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
"We were acting on court's direction, but the villagers were incited by a few political people, they started pelting stones at us, the police tried to control the situation. It's very unfortunate," Nagaur District Collector Dinesh Kumar Yadav said.

According to reports by local media, the administration was following an order of the Rajasthan High Court directing encroachment from the village. Over two dozen houses were to removed from a government land during the drive.
Considering the sensitivity of the situation, the district administration had deployed heavy police force and top officials were overseeing the operation. Despite huge protests, several houses were destroyed.
The protest, however, later got out of the hand when villagers started pelting stones at the team. Following this, the police lathicharged the mob to disperse them. During the clash, a stone hit JCB operator Farookh who was soon taken to a hospital where he passed away during treatment.
Several villagers were also left injured in the clash.
Meanwhile, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal has said that he will not let the houses of poor get destroyed.
