The family of the Bengali migrant worker who was hacked to death and murdered has said that they have not been able to sleep.
A viral video of Mohammed Afrazul getting murdered in the name of love jihad had sent shock waves across the country. The main accused, identified as Shambulal Regar, was seen attacking Afrazul with a sickle, pouring kerosene on his body and setting him ablaze before fleeing the spot. Regar was eventually arrested.
Afrazul's widow Gulbar Babi told The Indian Express that she and her daughter have been unable to sleep since the video went up on Wednesday. His screams haunt them, they said. According to Bibi, even animals were not treated so badly. The report adds that the locals from the West Bengal village that is located around 350 kilometres from Kolkata have contacted their menfolk in Rajasthan urging them to return as soon as possible. In his videos, Regar had ranted against ‘love jihad’ and Islam. He had referred to a woman he called his “Hindu sister who he had tried to save from love jihad”. That woman, however, has denied any link, saying that she went to West Bengal with one Mohammed Bablu Sheikh, a resident of Malda, in 2010, but returned to Rajasthan in 2013 on her own.
