All the Rajasthan government advertisements will soon have a picture of Deen Dayal Upadhyay, founder of erstwhile Jan Sangh. The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has issued orders to all government departments, boards, corporations, authorities, and autonomous bodies to ensure the use of a specific logo for such advertisements. The said logo will have a picture of Upadhyay along with a mention of his centenary year, says the letter issued by DIPR Secretary.

"The year is being celebrated as the centenary year of the great thinker, philosopher and litterateur Deen Dayal Upadhyay," reads the order and directs the officials concerned to ensure that the logo is used on all its advertisements.

With the Centre naming its schemes after Deen Dayal Upadhyay, the Rajasthan government too does not want to left behind. Especially as Upadhyay holds a special connect with Rajasthan. The state government has spared no effort to promote Dhankya village —Upadhyay's birth place. Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore has selected the Dhankya, which falls in his constituency, to be developed under the under the Adarsh Gram Yojna. Foundation stone has been laid last year for a national monument spread over 4,500 square metres and Rajasthan government has released 1.61 crore fund.

The Dhankya village, approximately 40 kilometres from Jaipur, is the birthplace of Deen Dayal Upadhyay. He was born in a railway quarter where his maternal grandfather was posted as station master.

The land has been taken over by the government from the railways and over 8000 square mts of land has been given to the railways in exchange.

Even earlier government efforts to promote the late Jan Sangh leader had run into trouble when its plan to put a picture of Upadhyay along with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on land deeds had to be withdrawn.
