Rajasthan gears up to celebrate World Tourism Day

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, tourists visiting Jaipur will not just receive a warm, colourful welcome but will also have the opportunity to visit the historical monuments for free. 

The formal function to celebrate this day will begin at 9 am at Albert Hall where the tourists will be given a traditional welcome with garlands and tilak on the forehead.

Sources, however, say that due to the ongoing Navratri festival, this time there won’t be a big function at Jaleb chowk in Amber. 

The kacchi godhi dance was also organised at Jantar Mantar last year on the same occasion. 

Tourists visiting all other monuments like Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Sargasooli will not to have shell out any money.  Several programs at all the monuments are being planned to make it a memorable day for the tourists. 

The renovated museum at Bikaner is also expected to be inaugurated today by MLA Siddhi Kumari.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje has called upon the people of the state to align with the efforts of the state government to make it a memorable World Tourism Day. In her message on this occasion, Raje said that the state has a treasure of rich heritage, diverse natural beauty and history. The state’s diverse culture, architecture, art, folk music, fairs and festivals, historic forts and stunning havelis have always been the centre of attraction.

She said that state government is taking many steps to strengthen the tourism sector and its slogan ‘janey kya dikh jaye’ is a major pulling factor for tourists. 

Raje said that various tourism agencies have appreciated the tourism of the state because of the remarkable work done in this sector.

She said that we will have to enrich the tradition of the state of welcoming the tourists by treating them as guests.
