Rajasthan: Five-year-old girl raped in Sikar

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the district on Saturday when she was on her way to school.

According to police, the girl, a student of Class I at a private school in the Neem Ka Thana area here, was raped by unidentified accused who caught her when she was on her way to school.

The matter came to light when she reached her school in an injured state. She was rushed to a local hospital in a critical condition and doctors there referred her to Jaipur.

Sikar SP Akhilesh Kumar said that "efforts are on to identify and trace the accused".

Meanwhile, following the alleged rape, locals staged a road-block in the area demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

The roadblock was removed after the irate crowd was assured by senior officials of speedy action in the matter.

It is the second such incident in the district in recent days after a minor girl who was sleeping with her mother on the footpath was abducted and raped by a man.
