After 41-year-old Gajendra Singh committed suicide at AAP rally in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday apologised for continuing his speech, and said that there was no need for blame game. Speaking to ANI, Kejriwal said, "I have never had such an experience in my life. The tree was far from the stage and due to tree's branches I couldn't see what was happening."

Apologising for continuing his speech, Kejriwal added, "I made a mistake. I should have called off the rally. I continued my speech (after farmer's suicide), that was my error. I apologise if someone's sentiments have been hurt. I could not announce from the stage about what was happening on the tree, as there would have been a stampede."

Kejriwal further added, "I want to answer to questions that are being raised on us. No blame game is needed. It is not right to blame the police as well. When the body came down he was still alive, AAP workers rushed him to the hospital. I don’t think that anybody of those present there would have thought that a person would commit suicide."

Stating that the inquiry will take place and the culprits will come out in the end, Kejriwal added, "I am saying that incident took place in front of me, I could not sleep for the whole night, but the real truth will come out after inquiry. Whoever is guilty should be hanged. We should focus on farmers. Farmers are committing suicide and our aim should be to stop suicides." Kejriwal said.

41-year-old Gajendra Singh, a resident of Dausa district and father of three, took his life by hanging himself from a tree on Wednesday, while Arvind Kejriwal was addressing a farmers rally on the issue of Land Acquisition Ordinance.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party accused the Delhi Police of being responsible for the death of farmer Gajendra Singh, who had committed suicide by hanging himself during a rally in the national capital, announcing a monetary compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the latter’s family.

Workers of the Youth Congress and BJP also protested against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside his residence following the suicide of farmer Gajendra Singh, who committed suicide during an Aam Aadmi Party rally in the national capital.

The demonstrators raised slogans against Kejriwal and burnt his effigies, slamming the Delhi Chief Minister for continuing with his address despite Gajendra’s suicide.
