After party secretaries, in-charge to over the assembly polls, were named in the unfair practices used to distribute tickets, Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot on Tuesday gave them a clean chit. Pilot termed the allegations to be baseless and a conspiracy hatched by the BJP.

"All four of them (co-in charge) have done a great job (in ticket distribution exercise). It is a conspiracy of the rival party to spread rumours about them and malign the party; revealing their desperation to cling to power at any cost," Pilot said in Jaipur on Tuesday. "I strongly refute all allegations, including those that have made it to the media," he added.

Vivek Bansal, Qazi Mohammad Nijamuddin, Devendra Kumar and Tarun Kumar, part of the screening committee panel headed by Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja, is considering and finalising candidates' panel for 200 constituencies slated to go to polls on December 7. There were allegations of tickets being given to 'ineligible' candidates on basis of proximity or promise of funding. However, none of the allegations could be proven and the party is believed to have resolved the matter internally.

It was also reported that the secretaries allegedly manipulated the feedback regarding select candidates in some constituencies that fell under their purview. "The secretaries, according to reports, drew flak from the party high command in recent Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting," a source said. According to reports, party president Rahul Gandhi was apparently unhappy with their work and it was followed by a speculation of them being stripped of their duties. On Tuesday, however, Pilot rubbished the allegations.

Rahul back in Raj

Informing about Rahul’s campaign, Pilot informed that Rahul will be visiting state in the third week of November. “Post Diwali Rahul ji will be touring Madhya Pradesh. After this, he will be coming to Rajasthan for campaigning which may be a single or two-day tour. It is yet to be formalized,” said Pilot.
