RSS poster boy and BJP’s candidate from Ramganj Mandi state assembly constituency, Madan Dilawar, filed his nomination at election officer’s chamber in the Kota town.

Dilawar’s nomination rally in Ramganj Mandi town was marked by a huge gathering of his supporters, several of whom were drawn from outside the constituency he seeks to represent. Many of the supporters came from Atru and Baran, the constituencies he has served as a legislator in the past.

Besides Kota–Bundi MP Om Birla, Dilawar was accompanied by his wife and friends at the time of filing of nomination.

Supporters of Chandrakanta Meghwal, who is the sitting BJP MLA from Ramganj Mandi were also present on this occasion with Madan Dilawar. Meghwal had threatened to contest as an independent after she was denied a ticket but was later pacified by chief minister Vasundhara Raje in Jaipur.

A large number of supporters of MLA Phralad Gunjal having association with Bajranj Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad were also seen in the rally. Madan Dilawar could not be contacted for comments.

Dilawar had been a BJP MLA from 1990 to 2008 and was cabinet minister in Bharo Singh Shekhawat and later in Vasundhara Raje’s governments. He was, however, denied a party ticket  from Atru in 2013 and was ready to file his nomination as an Independent. However, the party leadership convinced him not to contest the polls.
