How far would aspirants seeking tickets in Congress go to lobby for a shot at the upcoming polls in Rajasthan? Several aspirants are flocking to meet senior leaders in New Delhi. They are leaving no stone unturned to ensure their candidature is considered, so much so that former Jaipur mayor on even broke the traffic rules in Delhi and chased former chief minister Ashok Gehlot in an auto rickshaw.

Jaipur Ex-Mayor and Rajasthan Congress secretary, Jyoti Khandelwal, who is seeking a ticket from Kishanpole assembly constituency of Jaipur, has been camping in the national capital for several days now.

On Thursday, she tried to meet AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot and ended up chasing his vehicle. Gehlot apparently left the party office to meet the screening committee chairperson Kumari Selja at her residence. Khandelwal accompanied by her husband in a private vehicle was tailing Gehlot.

At a crossing where green signal was on Gehlot's vehicle passed through smoothly but it turned red by the time Khandelwal's four-wheeler reached. Khandelwal feared she would miss the bus if she waited at the traffic signal and her driver jumped the red light flouting traffic rules.

However, an alert policeman intercepted her vehicle and slapped a fine, issuing a challan on the spot, sources said. At this moment Khandelwal couple hired an auto and reached Selja's home to meet Gehlot. "We are working for the party in the constituency for past five years. Jyoti has been front-runner in implementing all party programs at the grass roots. Today we wanted to meet Gehlot ji. His vehicle crossed the intersection and we didn't realise we have jumped the light. Later the police challenged us and we went to meet him in an auto," Sharad told DNA.
