The ground realities of vast-spread constituencies and funding requirements keep Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on its toes when it comes to planning Rajasthan campaign. As talks with other regional parties remain inconclusive AAP maintains its stand to contest solo on all the 200 seats of state. It though narrows down its focus to only a fraction of these as polling day comes close.

A multi-level evaluation continues at the party to shortlist the most potential seats. The process involving the expertise of third-party agency will have the party determine its key 'constituencies', while it may also suggest on reconsideration of the already declared candidates. The show of party national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at Jaipur on Sunday added another parameter to their consideration. Ramleela Maidan at Jaipur was possibly the smallest venue for a political gathering and it too remains partially vacant.

AAP has its campaign in Rajasthan centred around achievements of Kejriwal government at Delhi. His first public meeting at Rajasthan though fell much short of the expected gathering numbers. In fact, the party is evaluating the list of volunteers who accompanied each party candidate at Kejriwal's rally. His rally is also expected to rejuvenate its claimed 1.5 lakh volunteer network in the state.

Amid the present circumstances, even as party leaders claim of forming the next government at the state, the party plans to place its available resources to few winnable seats. The party still looking to develop a political ground at state also has the prestige seats of a major city on its priority list. Other than the issue of finance and network, the party also has the additional challenge of keeping its clan together. Earlier in April this year, party national treasurer Deepak Bajpai was appointed in-charge of Rajasthan replacing senior party leader Kumar Vishwas. The entire party hierarchy got altered subsequently, many of the volunteers also moved away and a new one arrived. The process had the party workers in uncertainty months before the election. Declaration of candidates also led to discontent at several areas forcing the party to go on damage control mode once again.

The party, for now, holds itself strong on few seats of Bharatpur, Alwar, Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar districts and hopes to assimilate more discontented leaders falling away from BJP and Congress after they declare the candidate list. Meanwhile, more than a sweeping victory, AAP strives for a decent vote share to substantiate its claims in elections.
