Raj: Man drowns in swimming pool at friend's B'day party

A 26-year-old man died apparently from drowning in a swimming pool at a resort here during his friend's birthday party, police said today.

The incident occurred last night when the victim and his friends jumped into the pool together. The others after coming out of the water saw the man's body floating, they said.

He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, police said, adding that one of the guests at filmed the entire incident on his cellphone.

The victim's brother has lodged a police complaint and have claimed that he was a good swimmer, they said.

"We have initiated an investigation on the basis of a complaint and handed over the body to the family after the post mortem," a police officer said.

He said that the post mortem report is awaited. However, there were some injury marks on his body, suggesting that he might have hurt himself while jumping in the pool, the officer said.

The police is going through the video clip of the incident, he said.
