Railway security reviewed in Kashmir

The railway security in the Valley was reviewed today at a high-level meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police, Railways, M S Salaria here.

Salaria visited Railway Station Nowgam in the outskirts of the city and reviewed the security along with Government Railway Police (GRP) officers, a police spokesman said.

Senior GRP officials including Senior Superintendent of Police B A Aitu and Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Railway Protection Force officers attended the meeting.

The IGP directed the officers to develop close and cordial relations amongst various agencies involved in the security of Railway property, which is the prime and common objective of GRP, the spokesman said.

He said the officers were directed to carry out an exercise to go through the SOPs chalked out with regard to their functioning so that desired results are achieved.

Salaria also directed the officers to chalk out a contingency plan at provincial, sub-division and Police Station-level and get them approved so that the same are implemented on ground, he said.

Later, the IGP held a 'Durbar' (meeting) of officers and Jawans of GRP of Kashmir province wherein an opportunity was provided to the participants to put forth their problems and grievances, the spokesman said.
