Actor Rahul Roy, best known for his lead role in 1990 romantic blockbuster 'Aashiqui', joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday, adding to the long list of personalities from the entertaining industry who have become a part of the saffron party.

Roy joined the BJP at its Ashoka Road headquarters in the presence of Union Minister Vijay Goel and party's media incharge Anil Baluni.

Tha actor also sang the popular song "Saanson ki zaroorat hai jaise" from Aashiqui.

A former model, Roy began his acting career with Mahesh Bhatt's Aashiqui. In 2006, he was a part of the first season of TV game show Bigg Boss.

Meanwhile, Twitterati went wild, with many trolling the BJP over the development.
