Rahul Gandhi wishes everyone 'Happy New Year' before leaving for Europe

While Rahul Gandhi had disappeared for 60 days earlier in the year without notice, this time he took to Twitter to inform us about his whereabouts. The Congress scion tweeted: “I will be traveling to Europe for a few days. A very Happy New Year to everyone. Hope the new year brings much joy and happiness to you and everyone close to you!”

From February to April, 2015, Rahul had been on a sabbatical and there was intense speculation about his whereabouts. It emerged that he had spent time in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam during his travels. During his absence, senior party leaders had to defend Rahul’s absence with the BJP mocking the Congress leader’s ‘vacation’.
