The BJP on Saturday claimed that Rahul Gandhi's ongoing 'Khat Sabha' campaign in Uttar Pradesh had completely "flopped" and he was left with no option but levelling "unfounded" allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Its attack on the Congress vice-president came as he continued with his criticism of Modi for "doing nothing" for the farmers and waiving loans of "a few industrialists close to him", a charge rejected by the saffron party.

"In reality, his 'Kisan Yatra' and 'Khat Sabha' in Uttar Pradesh have completely flopped. People have become disillusioned with him and are missing from his rallies. Rahul Gandhi has been left to do nothing but level unfounded allegations against Modi," BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

Describing the Gandhi scion as the "biggest example of non-serious and negative politics" in the country, he claimed that Modi was working to sort out the problems facing the country, following the 60-year-rule of the Congress.

"The whole world is praising Modi for the developmental work his government has done, besides economic reforms and it is working in the direction of wiping out terrorism and corruption and is drawing support from everybody," Sharma said. He cited the crop insurance scheme and the soil health card project of the government as also its plan to double the income of the farmers by 2022 to underscore its "pro-farmer" credentials and alleged that Gandhi could not see them due to his "Italian glasses".
