Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a full-scale attack on PM Narendra Modi, and accused RSS of de facto running the country.

"Go to an RSS shakha. What do you see there? Order. People in one straight line. Nobody is allowed to speak," he said.

"Talk to any RSS leader. They say this is how things should be and this is how the country should be run. Nothing will change for thousands of years and nothing will change for thousands of years," the 44-year-old leader said.

Speaking at an NSUI convention in Delhi, Rahul also accused BJP of lacking internal democracy.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul said 'only one person knows everything from farmers' issues to clothes.' Modi has time to visit USA, Japan, France and other countries, but he cannot visit a farmer's home, he added.

Rahul advised Modi to heed former PM Manmohan Singh's words. "Yesterday, Dr Singh criticised the state of the economy. Modi should take lessons from him", Rahul said.

Rahul also slammed the BJP government for cutting the education budget. "PM Modi first says that education is empowerment, and then the government cuts down on the education budget," he railed.
