Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday became the top trending topic on Twitter after he defied the UP government's ban from entering riot-hit Saharanpur. Gandhi, who left on Saturday morning was halted by the state police from entering the area that has been hit by caste-based riots. Gandhi even tweeted about his experience in the region.

However, Twitterati took it upon themselves to troll the Congress vice-president for politicizing the situation. 

Earlier, Gandhi reached the riot-hit area and interacted with locals.

Gandhi, accompanied by senior Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad and Raj Babbar, also discussed the deteriorating situation prevailing in the state with the locals there.

After meeting the locals, Rahul could be seen engaged in an altercation with the police force where he questioned them as to on what grounds he was not allowed to enter Saharanpur.

He said: “The government is spreading fear across the country. Dalits are being oppressed, not just in Saharanpur but everywhere in India. Rohit Vemula was being oppressed and every crores are being oppressed.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving foothold to anti-national powers in Jammu and Kashmir.” Rahul said in Saharanpur.

He also claimed that during the tenure of the Congress, the grand old party brought peace in the Valley and the current the government has failed to do so.
