Reacting on DMK president M K Stalin's proposal to project Congress president Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav said on Tuesday it was not necessarily the alliance's opinion.

Talking to reporters after unveiling a statue of his father and legendary Tamil leader M Karunanidhi in Chennai on December 16, Stalin had "proposed" Gandhi's name for the opposition's prime ministerial candidate.

"The people of the country are unhappy with the BJP and that it why the Congress got success in three states.

"West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, NCP leader Sharad Pawar and others had tried to bring all the leaders together to form an alliance ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. If someone (Stalin) is giving his opinion on the PM candidate, it is not necessary that all alliance partners have the same opinion," Yadav said.

Yadav also criticised Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath's claim that people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh deny employment to youth of his state.

After taking oath of office on Monday, Nath also announced government incentives to industries which give 70 per cent of their jobs to the youths of his state and added that people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh get employment in Madhya Pradesh at the cost of the local population.

Yadav termed the suggestion "wrong".

"We used to hear such things from Maharastra, where it is being said why North Indians come here, do business and take jobs. Similar voices came from Delhi. Now its from MP," Yadav told reporters on the sidelines of an event at the party headquarters in Lucknow.

Nath had indicated that people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh take job opportunities from the youth of MP.
